Description

ACTON C.P. CHESTER ROAD SJ 65 SW 4/3 The Star Inn 12th January 1967 GV II Public House, late C17 with later alterations. Timber framing and plastered brickwork with planted timbers, tile roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Reconstructed stonework plinth. Planted timbers, in close studding style, with plastered infilling. Projecting timber gabled porch has framed, ledged and braced door with false strap hinges and leaded lattice wing lights. Windows mainly 3-light flush casements, with glazing bars, but there are single light casements flanking the porch roof at first floor level. Gabled-end stacks. The roof slopes have alternate bands of plain and shaped tiles. Original timber framing shows at first floor level at the rear (west) and in the south gable. There is an old stone mounting block, with steps, at the front north-east corner of the building. Interior: Original cellar, plastered and exposed beams. Listing NGR: SJ6322252975
