Lychgate in Churchyard of St.Michael

War Memorial Lychgate. C.1919. Yellow sandstone ashlar with timber upper body and stone slate roof. Side walls of ashlar with ramped walls to each side and ending in piers with octagonal caps with moulded tops. Timber upper body with cambered tie beams to the gable ends at front and rear supported by angle braces inscribed 1914 at left and 1919 at right. The tie beam is inscribed "To : the : glory : of : GOD : and : in : honoured : memory : of : those : of : this : parish : who : gave : / Their : lives : for : their : country : and whose : names : are : recorded : on : the : tablet : in : the : church". King post above this and arched braces with moulded bargeboards and bargepost. The rear has inscribed on the tie beam "Ye who live in mid English pastures green, Remember us and think what might have been."
