2/13 Canal Salt Shed at Lion Salt Works
GV II
Salt shed, mid C19, timber framed, weatherboarded, roof replaced in corrugated asbestos. Gabled, approximately 30 metres by 10 metres. Doors to Trent and Mersey Canal at one end; large loading entry from forecourt at other end; high level loading door, with internal platform, opening to canal bridge embankment. The horizontal boarding is on inner side of frame with ventilation gaps between boards. Some upper boarding has been replaced in corrugated asbestos. The only surviving salt shed for storage and transfer of salt from a working salt-works to canal boats.
