Description

Marbury is a small rural settlement in a rich agricultural area of South Cheshire. The fine red sandstone battlemented church stands on elevated Ground overlooking the two meres. From the churchyard, there are magnificent views over Big Mere towards Marbury Hall and the surrounding countryside. The winding road pattern, the interesting changes in ground level and the pleasant foil provided by the trees around Little Mere help to give a sense of enclosure and unity to the informal, domestic building groups in the village. Although limited new development has recently been carried out in the village, it has not detracted from its overall charm and character.
